As a photographer it is very easy to hide behind abstraction but over time you learn to step into the light, as we ask our subjects to. The Dividing Line is a body of work that takes you through the stages of me discovering I had no interest in being a photographer at all, I only cared about taking photographs. It took me time to realise they were two very different things. This collection of photographs end where they began, with a clean slate, with me hoping the person looking back at me is willing to be who they really are, with me stepping from behind abstraction.

I have put much thought into how I feel about people’s view of my work and some time ago I realised it is neither right nor useful for me to think about that with a camera in my hand. That said, I hope people like the images I create and I thank you for taking the time to look at my pictures.
